Kudamatsu City
- Welcome to the Star-spangled Town of Shooting Star -
Kudamatsu, Yamaguchi is “HOSHIFURU MACHI” (this Japanese phrase has two meanings: [1] star-spangled town; and [2] town of shooting star).
It is a scenic and beautiful place on the rich Inland Sea, with blue skies and surrounded by green mountains. This is Toyo Kohan's hometown. The Shunan region in which Kudamatsu is located has a history of economic activity, especially in industrial development, and is still the economic engine of Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Kudamatsu is a difficult name for first time visitors, but it has a romantic back story. Long ago, more than 1400 years ago, in the times of the Empress Suiko, the North Star suddenly fell down on one of the pine trees in this area and shined for seven days and seven nights. At the end of that time, it said, “The prince of Paekche shall come.” Three years later, Prince Rinsho did indeed come to Japan from Paekche. As a result, the local people built a shrine to the North Star. As time passed by, it is said that the name "Hoshifuri Matsu" (“Shooting Star Pine”) gradually became “Kudamatsu” (Falling Pine).
As a company located in Kudamatsu, Toyo Kohan shall coexist with the local residents and contribute to the area. At the same time, we shall provide the best possible benefit packages to our employees to enable them to live happy lives.
We ask all the local residents to support our employees and Toyo Kohan in the future.
