The development of low distortion cladding process at room temperature method and apparatus for cold rolling clad metal sheet

Toyo Kohan developed cladding material that uses the “surface activation sealant method in a high vacuum,” and we commercialized this process in 2000. (Clad = Cover a material with cladding metal)

The invention of this technology led to our receiving the one of the most prestigious awards in Japan, the “National Commendation for Invention (The Prize of the Chairman of KEIDANREN).”

Contents of the Invention

We were able to seal two different metals in a vacuum at ambient temperature. The cladding material made with this invention has the advantages of little distortion resulting from the sealing of the materials, and the sealant phase is clean and flat. Furthermore, this method allows sealing of materials that could not be sealed with conventional technology.
