History - Pioneering Days, the Birth of Its Technological DNA (1934 to 1938)
Toyo Kohan was born as a maker of tinplate in 1934, and ever since it has been involved in the development of new materials, centering on iron.Because of its original technology and R&D ability, in recent years it has not limited itself to steel materials, but has spread out into hardened alloys, substrates for magnetic disks, clad materials, and other new fields.
We shall introduce our history in three phases.
The DNA of the engineers who dreamed of domestic production of tinplate was born in Kudamatsu, Yamaguchi prefecture.

1934
|
- Held the founding general meeting (at the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry) (April)
Capitalization: 5 million yen Koichi Ono is the first president. Head office established in Osaka. (Sozecho, Kita-ku, Osaka) Factory established in Kudamatsu. (Site area approximately 99,000 m2) Hot rolling mill and electroplating machines imported from the U.S. * Recruiting of employees (factory workers) (55 in April, 105 in July, 194 in December for a total of 354)
- Tokkyo Seitetsu Co., Ltd. established (May)

- Muroto Typhoon hits Japan. (September 21)
- Japan notifies the U.S. that it is dropping out of the Washington Treaty on the Limitation of Naval Armament. (December)

- Persia officially changes its name to Iran. (March 21)
- The second son of Emperor Hirohito, Yoshinomiya Masahito (later Prince Hitachi), is born. (November 28).
