Ecology

One of the basic management policies of our company is “Manufacturing products that are kind to the earth and to humans in a safe manner”, and the Kudamatsu Plant has long been pursuing activities aimed at energy saving, resource saving, and recycling. In order to carry out these activities efficiently and in a more organized way, we obtained certification of our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System in December 1999.
In addition, we expanded this system to the affiliates culminating in obtaining certification as the Toyo Kohan Group in December 2004.
From now on too, we will make more efforts towards environmental protection, and will pursue our business activities that are in harmony with the environment.

Basic Philosophy

The Toyo Seikan Group is strongly convinced that the most important common problem faced by humanity is the preservation of the global environment and its qualitative improvement, and will contribute to the formation of a recycling society that develops in a sustainable manner while paying attention to minutest details about the environment in all aspects of the Group's business activities.

Action Policy

Set up an organization necessary for promoting global environment preservation activities.
In addition to strictly following laws, ordinances, and other requirements, we will establish our own voluntary control standards, and work continuously towards environmental management.
Evaluate in advance the life cycle environmental load of products that are manufactured and marketed by our company, and promote product development and technology development keeping environmental preservation in view.
In addition to working towards energy saving and resource saving in all activities of the group, reducing the environmental load by reducing and reusing the generated wastes.
As far as possible, replace all materials with high environmental loads such as atmosphere polluting materials, global warming materials, toxic materials, etc., with alternate materials and also adopt alternate technologies.
As citizens of the Earth, actively participate in social contribution activities such as recycling promotion, etc.
In order to enhance the environmental awareness among our employees, we will carry out not only education, development, and publicity activities, but will also support voluntary participation of the employees in activities related to improvement of the environment of the Earth.

TOYO KOHAN EMS Group

In the group-comprehensive environmental management system, the environmental policies and environmental targets are discussed and decided upon in the group environment committee, and detailed environmental targets and action plans are set up in each of the companies in the group.
Further, in order to increase the efficacy of this system and to achieve continuous improvement, an intra-group audit is carried out of the environment offices of each of the companies in the group, thereby auditing and confirming the status of operation and results of each of the companies in the group.
